21 Analytics’ CEO, Lucas Betschart, joins OpenVASP board

28 Jun, 2021

Our CEO, Lucas Betschart, joins the board of the OpenVASP Association to help form the organisation and its protocol for the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Travel Rule future. Lucas adds his thorough technology expertise and the 21 Analytics' team's understanding of virtual asset service providers' (VASPs') needs regarding the new compliance challenges to the board. This reinforces our interest in collaboration to develop open Travel Rule protocols and an ecosystem that simplifies experiences for the end-user and compliance officers.

What is OpenVASP?

OpenVASP is a Swiss non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing open protocols around topics such as the Travel Rule and its ecosystem, based on the needs of VASPs regarding the new crypto compliance. OpenVASP's ultimate goal is to develop a set of open and robust protocols that guarantees privacy and decentralisation.

All VASPs are welcome to join as associate members to help develop standards built from the industry and for the industry.

About Lucas Betschart

In 2020 Lucas co-founded 21 Analytics to provide VASPs with a solution to the FATF Travel Rule focusing on data protection, as privacy is key to the success and preserving the industry's values. 21 Analytics' approach is to build and contribute to decentralized solutions that enable an open ecosystem.

Being active in Bitcoin since 2013, Lucas is also the president of Bitcoin Association Switzerland and plays a vital role in the development of the country's crypto space. He's the founder of the Bitcoin education initiative 21 Lectures and teaches at universities about Bitcoin.
