21 Travel Rule: Version 7.2.0 Released

13 Nov, 2024

This month, we released Version 7.2.0 of our Travel Rule solution: 21 Travel Rule. As always, each new release ensures compliance with the FATF Travel Rule and provides even further streamlined processes for VASPs and their customers.

Satoshi Test Portal

Like the AOPP Portal, the Satoshi Test Portal was introduced to simplify the self-hosted verification process for VASPs and their customers.

By clicking on the Satoshi Test Link button under the Self-hosted Wallets tab, VASPs can easily (and speedily) generate a link that customers can use to prove wallet ownership through a Satoshi Test

The VASP customer visits the Satoshi Portal website, performs the required transaction, and submits their transaction ID.

Once submitted, the customer will receive a success message, and the VASP will receive a notification on the Compliance Dashboard to verify whether the transaction was correctly executed. Once reviewed, the VASP will click Approve to complete the ownership process.

Of course, the full process can be completely automated by integrating with the VASP’s user interface and custody system, such that no manual intervention of the compliance team is necessary anymore.

Digital Token Identifier (DTI) for AOPP Proofs

AOPP proofs now use DTI asset specifiers. This means signing support for copious additional digital assets, as DTI asset specifiers automatically determine an asset’s chain. For example, if a wallet owner holds USDT, the DTI asset specifier will pick up if the asset is held on Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, TRON, etc.

This also has the great benefit that assets operating on the respective base chains, such as ERC20 tokens (Ethereum), are now also supported out-of-the-box.

Additional Blockchain Support for the AOPP Portal

Since the release of 21 Travel Rule Version 7.1, we have added even more blockchain support for self-hosted wallet ownership proofs performed via the AOPP Portal. The latest additions include all digital assets on the Polygon, BNB Chain (Binance), TRON and Solana blockchains, meaning over 1110 digital assets are available for wallet owners.

Furthermore, this support filters the wallets applicable to a specific blockchain; in other words, VASP customers can only access wallet options relevant to their selected asset.

Easy Customer Identification

All self-hosted wallet-proof methods include a customer ID field that allows VASPs to quickly identify customers by date of birth (DOB), passport, or phone number.

Further Updates Include

DOCX Download for Email Transactions

In the previous update, 21 Travel Rule added another layer of security—VASPs can now exchange transaction information with counterparties that are not yet Travel Rule compliant via encrypted emails. Now, VASPs can easily export information about such transactions via a convenient DOCX download.

VASPs using the latest version of 21 Travel Rule will remain fully compliant with the Travel Rule. Moreover, since 21 Travel Rule operates on-premises, it offers enhanced GDPR compliance by keeping sensitive customer data under VASP’s control—no data is shared with providers (like us) or third parties without the managing VASP's consent.
