21 Travel Rule: Easier USDT Self-hosted Wallet Verification
We are pleased to announce that we have extended our self-hosted wallet support to include Tether (USDT) on TRON. Now, using the 21 Travel Rule’s AOPP Portal, VASPs can verify self–hosted wallet ownership for all Tether transactions. This latest integration guarantees Travel Rule compliance and boasts a seamless user experience.
Why Support TRON?
TRON offers a scalable blockchain infrastructure that enables transactions rapidly at next-to-no costs. These features have made TRON an attractive option for many users and stablecoin projects like Tether (USDT).
In fact, TRON is the biggest blockchain for Tether, followed by Ethereum (which 21 Travel Rule also supports).
The blockchain is growing quickly due to its efficient infrastructure. TRON has developed bridges between networks, like Ethereum, allowing users to easily move digital assets across networks.
Tether and the AOPP Portal
Using the 21 Travel Rule software, VASPs can quickly generate unique proof links when customers wish to transact from or to their self-hosted wallets.
VASPs will click on the AOPP Portal Link button in the Self-hosted Wallets tab. Next, a pop-up message will appear, prompting the VASP to select the digital asset address type, Tether (with the appropriate blockchain), and provide the customer’s ID. Once completed, Get AOPP Portal Link is to be selected. Alternatively, this entire process can be automated through our API.
Once the link is generated, the VASP will forward it to the wallet owner, who completes a series of prompts to verify ownership. After the process is finalised, the proof of ownership appears automatically within the Self-hosted Wallets tab on the 21 Travel Rule Compliance Dashboard, providing a real-time view of verified wallets while ensuring compliance.

Compliance with Minimal Efforts
By integrating TRON into our growing list of digital assets, VASPs have a quick and straightforward solution to self-hosted wallet proofs that does not impact their customers’ user experience like other methods, i.e. manual signing.
The benefits of the AOPP Portal are twofold. Because the proofs issued using the AOPP Portal are secure, VASPs are guaranteed Travel Rule compliance, and wallet owners will have even more flexibility when transacting and a simplified user experience while safeguarding their assets.
The AOPP Portal supports all digital assets native to the Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana blockchains, and now TRON, a total of 1110 tokens.
