Anything that is uniquely recognised, stored digitally and used by companies or individuals to realise value is considered a digital asset.

Digital assets, in the context of DLTs, refer to anything minted or exchanged on the blockchain.

Examples of blockchain digital assets:

  • Cryptocurrency

  • Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)  

  • Security Tokens 

  • Tokens such as ARTs and EMTs 

Jurisdiction-dependent, a digital asset can also be known as a virtual asset or crypto asset in the EU. The DTIF makes use of digital token.
